After 25 years Mr. Inclan found the answer to his chronic pain with PRP (Plasma Rich Platelets)
After 25 years of living with pain, Mr.Inclan found the answer he sought at Novastem.
When Mr. Inclan was 30 years old his life changed.
As he was driving another car hit him on the back, as a result Inclan was ejected with force over the steering wheel and into the windshield.
He suffered several contusions and was covered with blood; people who witnessed the accident called an ambulance which picked up an unconscious Inclan and took him to the hospital.
His wife’s cell phone rang and she learned the terrible news, the family was shocked.
Mr. Inclan woke up at the hospital, not remembering everything but feeling pain on several parts of his body, particularly on his shoulder.
The doctor said to him that his condition was stable, he had many contusions but none put his life at risk, according to the studies.
His instructions were to take pain relievers and remain on observation for a couple of days, if everything was ok, he could go home, his family felt a sigh of relief.
After a couple of days, he was discharged from the hospital to recover from the accident.
His recovery was slow and steady (this was a good sign), but something called his attention.
All the pain in his body slowly vanished with the passing days, except the pain on his shoulder.
He was confused but he thought that maybe this was normal and that time and physical rehabilitation meant that his shoulder pain would go away too.
He was wrong.
That pain never went away and he had to learn how to live with it for the years to come.
People around him were happy to see his fast recovery, all the pain in his body just went away with the rehabilitation and treatment, except the pain on his shoulder.
Doctors said that perhaps a possible reason for his pain was that a nerve was damaged and they needed to conduct further studies to know what happened.
After many medical evaluations, Mr. Inclan was diagnosed with chronic pain and felt devastated.
Chronic pain is defined as a “long-standing pain that persists beyond the usual recovery period (1) ” the pain can appear and disappear from time to time but it can also be permanent.
The pain severity varies from patient to patient.
In Inclan’s case, the pain made every part of his daily routine difficult.
Activities such as driving or taking a shower became very painful.
These interruptions to his daily routine changed his life.
It is hard to say a unique cause of chronic pain, since its origin could be a disease or an injury, sometimes it just appears without a clear cause.
Mr. Inclan’s whole life changed.
After an apparently good physical recovery, the pain in the shoulder remained and persisted for years.
Sometimes the pain ignited a vicious circle, the pain led to a stress reaction about the pain itself, the stress caused insomnia, insomnia caused depression and irritability which led to stress again.
His family noticed the difference in Mr. Inclan’s personality.
Sometimes he felt angry about the situation, he didn’t do anything wrong.
He was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Life without pain is possible
Mr. Inclan tried many treatments to overcome chronic pain but none was particularly efficient.
He began to accept he was deemed to live with pain for the rest of his life.
He continued trying to live life the best he could, adapting to the chronic pain which became his companion for 25 years.
Life continued and even after many years, he didn’t lose his hope to live without pain.
Then Mr. Inclan heard about Novastem and their regenerative treatments.
He was curious but skeptical, after all this time he has tried many things and didn’t find something particularly effective, only pain relievers helped and sometimes not even that kept his pain away.
At this point, he didn’t believe that something could be done about his condition.
After all, doctors had said that there was no cure and there were not many options.
He decided to try Novastem, nothing would change if he didn’t try something different, he should at least try, later he gladly found that he made the right decision.
“I was happy to find a professional clinic, the staff, everything gave me a good impression.
Paola received me, she was my first contact with the clinic, she answered all my questions and told me that in the past, patients with chronic pain responded well to injections of platelet-rich plasma.
But first they had to see if I qualified as a candidate, so Dr. Vanessa Felix ordered an MRI and other studies.
The results were promising, I was a good candidate.
Dr. Felix recommended platelet-rich plasma injections, and the treatment started.
The treatment was very successful because the pain has reduced by 80%.
Everything I did with my shoulder while I was going through my day, taking a shower, stretching, extending my arm or driving was painful, it always hurt, now it has practically disappeared.
I used to take muscle relaxers and anti-inflammatories that relieved me for a couple of hours, but nothing like this.” – Mr. Inclan ¿Want to know more? Watch the full testimonial here.
You might be wondering, what are platelet-rich plasma injections?
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a therapy that uses injections of a concentrate of a patient’s own platelets to accelerate the healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles, and joints.
In this way, PRP injections use the patient’s own healing system to improve their condition, so it is a safe therapy that helps patients with musculoskeletal problems. (2).
This treatment is highly recommended to patients with any kind of injuries derived from accidents, strong trauma or sports.
The treatment is safe and there are no adverse reactions, this gives the body the extra help that is required to heal the injuries that sometimes the body can’t heal by itself.
Mr. Inclan found after many years an alternative to his pain and started a new life, life without pain is possible.
