Foot pathologies.

Stem cell treatment.

The appearance of sudden pain in the foot, inflammation of any of the joints that make it up or any change in this area, should make us consult a specialist. Any condition in the foot can compromise its functionality, so early attention is necessary.

Why is the foot so delicate?

It must be taken into account that the foot has 26 bones, 33 joints and more than 100 tendons, muscles and ligaments. As a result, it can suffer from a wide range of foot pathologies. Trauma, the use of inappropriate footwear or malformations can cause disorders in this area of the anatomy.

At Novastem we treat foot pathology using stem cells. For more information on how we can help you, schedule an appointment with one of our specialists.

What are the most common foot pathologies?

The most common foot pathologies vary widely and offer different types of symptoms, diagnoses and treatments. Among the pathologies that the foot can suffer from, we can find these thirteen:

Plantar fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis. It is the inflammation of the thick tissue called plantar fascia in the lower sole of the foot. This fascia is the one that connects the calcaneus with the toes and creates the lower arch of the foot that can become inflamed, painful and make walking difficult.

It can be produced by several causes such as:

Calcaneal spur

Calcaneal spur. It is a bony neoformation in the plantar face of the calcaneus where the plantar fascia inserts and causes as consequence:

Tendinitis

Tendinitis. It is the inflammation of the tendon of a muscle that is usually associated with the inflammation of the synovial sheath that surrounds it:

It is frequent the inflammation of the Achilles tendon in

Metatarsalgia

Metatarsalgia. It is characterized by pain in the plantar face of the metatarsals, behind the central toes produced by changes in the position of the same. This pathology can be associated with other pathologies such as:

Bunions or hallux valgus

Bunions or hallux valgus. One of the most common foot problems, which is a thickening of the big toe:

Claw or hammer toes

Claw or hammer toes. They are the fingers that have shrunk producing an elevation or atrophy of the ligaments or tendons, preventing the finger to have its normal mechanism of flexion and extension.

It usually occurs in the 2nd and 3rd finger:

Calluses

Calluses. It is an accumulation of dead cells in the feet that are produced as a defense mechanism against excessive friction or pressure in the area.

They are usually a consequence of

Plantar papilloma or wart or fisheye wart

Plantar papilloma or wart or fish eye. It is a benign growth that appears on the skin as a result of infection by the human papillomavirus.

Contact with the virus occurs in places where we walk barefoot as:

Ingrown toenail or ingrown toenail

Ingrown toenail or ingrown toenail. It is produced when one of the sides of the periungual lamina is introduced inside the periungual tissue and an interlocking of the nail is generated that causes:

Flat feet

Flat feet. Orthopedic malformation of the foot characterized by the absence of the longitudinal arch of the arch of the foot. They are feet that have flattened because they have lost the plantar arch of the foot. They occur because the tissues that support the joints of the foot are weakened. Most flat feet do not cause pain. It is improved through:

Pes cavus. Orthopedic malformation consisting of elevation of the plantar vault of the foot. It is frequent in the general population although in mild forms. Eighty percent of cases of pes cavus are associated with a neurological disease with potential for neuromuscular impairment.

The disorder is characterized by:

arch and heel pain in the forefoot area below the toes.

Corrected with appropriate orthopedic insoles and footwear.

Pronated and supinated feet. To know if we have pronated and supinated feet we can proceed as follows:

It can cause pain in the feet, kneecaps and spine.

To these thirteen pathologies of the foot we can add another ten which are composed of Rheumatic Foot, Freiberg’s Disease, Ankle Fractures, Haglund’s Disease, Sever’s Disease, Congenital Deformities, Calcaneal Fractures, Astragaline Cartilage Lesions, Ankle Arthrosis or Morton’s Neuroma. Before finishing we would like to point out some recommendations that we think are helpful in day to day life.

Treatments for foot pathologies

Stem cell treatment for patients with foot pathology

Stem cell treatment is an alternative to regenerate those damaged tissues, for this reason it is one of the most promising areas in the treatment of diseases with little or no chance of cure.

It is important to offer new treatment alternatives to these patients, who are increasing every day, which has repercussions in the health systems and in the quality of life of these people.

This is what we do at Novastem.

The strictest acceptance protocols to treat a patient are performed in laboratories before each therapy, patients who have had cancer in the last 5 years are not admitted.

Ultrasound and/or fluoroscope guided one day treatment with or without anesthesia for direct application to the area to be treated.

Novastem. A clinic of competence in stem cell treatment.

Over the years, numerous attempts have been made to discover medical and non-medical treatment options for this condition. In some cases, medical treatments have led to increased survival and improved quality of life, and options for non-medical therapies have emerged.

Novastem’s goal with our treatments is to reverse the lack of functionality, eliminating pain and allowing you to enjoy 100% of daily activities and life again.

At Novastem we use mesenchymal stem cells derived from bone marrow. The application of the treatment is intravenous, never directly to the heart muscle.

Novastem has the strictest acceptance protocols to treat a patient, we perform laboratory studies before each therapy.
